11/30/10 getting things done
Today I went and had tech support help me make our movie make video into a smaller size. The we I had it set up you were not able to view our video from any other computer because it was to large and took forever to download. Today I made it into a small size so you can view it from anywhere. The only problem now is the quality is not as good as before but still not to bad. Next i linked this to my personal website so anyone can view it. After doing this I also linked our chapter project to my website so anyone can view this. Things are moving along great. This semester is wrapping up and we only have a few more things to do. I can not wait to get all my more done!

videa editing 11/18/10
Today our group meet and start our video editing project. We start but just brain storming of what are video was going to be about. We then wrote our scripts and went over them a few time. We had to find a video camera to record to we turned to the library and used there video recorder. Next we began recording, we found it was hard to record ourselves without laughing. We finally pulled it together and got our record all done to perfections. Next we uploading the video to the computer. We then went on windows movie maker and began working. Sarah is going finish up this and Seth is going to finish up our lesson plan for teaching at the lake. After doing all this I found that this would be a great tool for teaching or even help out in coaching in the future. I am looking forward to working with movie maker in the future.

podcast project 11/11/10
Today our group meet up and worked on our podcast project. First we sat down and discussed what we were all going to talk about. Next we wrote down our individual script of what we were going to say. Keith went to the library and rented a mic so we were able to record. Kevin was the first to go followed by Keith, Seth, Sarah, and then myself. After we got all this down I began editing it and making changes. I next added music to the background so it sounded a little better. I am still trying to figure out how to save the work as a MP3 but I was able to submit it and hopefully the correct way. I am going back tonight to the computer lab to try to figure out how to save it as an MP3. I am looking forward to linking it to my website so other can listen and enjoy it as well.

Podcast Script
Hi my name is Caleb Canterbury. Today I am going to talk about teaching at the lake. Our group came up with several different projects to help us teach about the lake: including poster, power point, and booklets. I decided to used publisher to make a newsletter. Newsletters can be very helpful in schools and help keep parents aware of things going on in the school. In my news I covered swimming, diving, boater safety and alcohol at the lake. Boating before getting under way! First check your boat for all required safety equipment. Next consider the size of your boat, the number of passengers and the amount of extra equipment that will be on board. Don’t overload the boat. If you will be in a power boat check your electrical system and fuel system for gas. Follow the manufactures suggestions before starting up the engine. Wear your life jacket don’t just carry one on board. You should work to increase your safety not increase your risk. Make sure you check the weather forecast beforehand. You do not want to get caught in a storm. If you keep these few things in mind when boating you will not only have a better time you will have a safer time. Alcohol on the lake, it is a fact alcohol and water don’t mix. Unfortunately many people ignore this. Each year about 300 people died due to alcohol related drowning. Just one beer can impair your balance, vision, judgment, and reaction time. This can be deadly if operating and boat or even just swimming. So next time you head to the lake leave the alcohol behind. If you would like to read more on this topic go to my website www.student.lhup.edu/ccanterb/ and clink on newsletter.
Thank you

podcast 11/9/10
Today we took a look at podcast. The tech support came in and give us a few examples of what is podcast and how to use it. We had to download it onto our computers and then open it up with some program. We just practiced with it today by cutting some audios and pasting them on others. we also tried added sounds but there seemed to be some sort of problem with it on PC. We also looked at an audio clip and added commercials and changed the wording around. Podcast is still new to me and will take some getting use to but I am looking forward to it.

eccel continued 11/4/10
Today the teach support was there which was a relive he is a great help. I started out by just finish up all my excel projects. I finished up my letter that I was planning on merging to the excel spreadsheet and made sure I spell checked it. Next Arm help me with the mail merge I know I did it before it just been awhile and I needed a little refresher. He showed me some and then let me try it one my own. After sometime I was able to get it and I had him check it over and he said it looked good. Next he talk about our grade book and give us some examples. After this it was easy to calculate the cells using the formulas he showed us. By the end of the day I was able to complete all of my excel work that was due. I turned everything in the drop box and well as put it on my site. My site is coming alone great and I plan to add it as the semester goes one.

excel spreadsheet 11/2/10
Today I was working on Microsoft excel. I was using this to make a budget of my expense. I found that I was able to add up different things by using the SUM formula. I was able to to my total expenses as well as the money I made working at my summer job. I also worked on activity two which was look at an on line spreadsheet and make one similar but on our own topic. The spreadsheet I looked at was for P90X which is a work on log. So I decided to kind of do a similar log but not for exercises but for eating. I make weekly and by three meals plus a snack. I also was working on my database assignment I made a roster in access the other day for the volleyball team. So today I make a similar roster but this time on excel. After doing this I make a letter for the players on the volleyball team. The reason I did this is so I can mail merge the two documents. I was not able to remember how to use mail merge so I am going to wait for the teach help on Thursday and complete this.

database 10/28/10
Today I started using Microsoft access to create a database. It was hard at first but after reading the samples on the website it wasn't to bad. I start out my making a database for the lock haven volleyball team. This is just a practice but I plan on adding on and making more. I am not sure of all the things you can to with access but I am excited to learn and see how I can apply this to teaching. I am going to read up on it a and see what else I can come up with. Over all it was a good first day just getting my feet wet.

Photo Story continued 10/26/10
Today I Just continued to work on my digital story. It took me a while but I found out how to add music. When adding music you have to make sure that the music doesn't over power your own voice recorded. This is where I ran into some trouble, but after some adjusting I was able to get it where it had to be. After doing this I review it a final time and turned it in the drop box.

excel & spreadsheet 10/21/10
Today in class Arm began to talk about Microsoft excel. I have never used Microsoft excel so I was a little behind. It didn't take long for me to catch up though. We started out with just an example document, placing heading and numbers in rows and columns. After we got comfortable with this he told us something about mail merge. This is when you take one document say Microsoft excel and merge it with Microsoft word. this was kind of cool because I never knew you could do such a thing. The example we did was taking a list of students and their grades of exams and took the average and total and sum. After this we went to Microsoft word and make a letter that had students name, grade, percent, and letter grade. He showed us the mail merge process and we went threw the six set process. At the end it was like a print out of all the student grades on separate pages. I feel like this will be very helpful as a teach to letting parents know how there children are doing in school. I am looking forward to working with excel in the future.

Photo Story 10/19/10
Today I began working on my digital story assignment. I began doing this by going into photo story a program on the computer and exploring it. Photo story is completely new to me I have never made movie or anything like this. I found it difficult but after a while I caught on. I started just uploading pictures and adding a few titles to the slides. I just found out how to do different kinds of transitions and change the font around. So I plan on working with this a little more. I also plan on adding music and voice recording but I have not yet figured out how. I am looking forward to learning more so I am able to finish this and making many more movies.

newsletter on water safety 10/13/10
Today I started working on the newsletter. I had never done anything like this before, I had no idea where to start. I found out that there is a program on Microsoft that is made just for this which is Microsoft publisher. You just have to make sure you have this program on your computer. Once you have this one your computer you can pick any template you would like for the news letter. I found that it was a lot easier just to plug in information into the template then trying to make your own. I decided to do a news letter one water safety tips. In the newsletter I talk about swimmers, divers, alcohol, cold water survival, watching small children, boating, causes of drowning, and other tips. I think this new tool would be a great thing to use in the classroom and to send home to the parents as well. I feel after learning how to use publisher I will be able to send home weekly newsletters in school.

Publisher 10-05-10
Today we start to work with publisher. This was the first time that I had ever used this program. It seem a little confusing at first but after I played around and Dr. Hossain showed us some to the things we could do it was pretty cool. The first thing we worked on was business cards. It had easy to use templates that were already set up all you had to do was pick one. Once we picked a template we started to edit our personal information. Such as: our name, our phone number, address, motto, and much more. After do this we saved on our w drive so we can access it from any computer on campus. Next we learned how to make news letters, brochures, resumes, and certificates. As future educators I found all of these tools will be very useful and I am look forward to exploring them more.

Booklet
This week during class we learned about making booklets. Booklets can be made on microsoft word for a number of topics. This is a great thing to know how to do not just for in this class but also when we become educators. I feel like I could use this in my health classes and have the students make a booklet on a health topic. This could also be used in elementary physical education for having students understand new sports. I am really looking forward to making booklets in this class and also in the future.

Sept 28, 2010 google docs
Today we learned how to use google docs. This allows you to share all of your work with your group members on the web. This will come in very handy when working at home and your not able to meet with your group members. Today we just started with adding all of our individual blogs. We then learned how to share with our group members. Then we all were able to add and help each other work together. I feel like google docs will not only be a great too for us to use this semester but also in our future as educators.

Caleb Canterbury
Hi my name is Caleb Canterbury. I am a senior at Lock Haven University going for Health and Physical Education. I Come from a very small town called Johnsonburg Pa. Most of you are probably like where the heck is Johnsonburg. Well it is about two hours northwest of central Pa. Johnsonburg popluation is about 1,500 on a good day, with only one red light.
My graduating class had 54 kids. In High school I played football, wrestling, and track. I also was an eagle scout and prom king. In a small there is not to much to do. Some of my favorite things to do on my spare time are hunting, fishing, working out, and hanging out with friends. All of these activities led me to want to become a health and physical edcator.
As far as technology I am not very good. After taking EDTF200 I would really like to be able to use excell, word, publisher and much more. On way I feel technology can help me as a teacher is making grade books and have students do on line video as a journel.
Since I am not that great with technology I have never taking an on line class. I feel like I would rather see the professor in person rather then on line. That is why this class is going to be very different. Lastly one interesting fact about me is from my junior to senior year in high school I lost 75lb.
